Nokia 888

17Oct06

This concept phone has been bouncing around the web for a while now (I think a little over a year) but, it’s so cool that I gotta post it here. My favorite phone pose (above) is the one in the back right – the one that looks like a pool chair. Couldn’t you just envision a Smurf suntanning?

The Nokia 888 Concept Phone from wunderkind non-functioning product designer Tamer Nakisci of Yanko Design takes you to the not-too distant future, where liquid batteries and flexible touch screens […] are everyday realities. It bends, it curls, it clips, it’s a fashion accessory and a..phone. Will the technology ever exist to make it actually work? Check back in a decade or so.

Peugeot Charms

I found this on a website that’s in Russian so I don’t know anything about it. I just know it looks pretty sweet – and strange at the same time. I tried the translate the website, didn’t get much more info, but I think the concept car is named “charms” (which would be a really sad name if it ever made it to production).

Scroll Pan

11Oct06

Nearly every kitchen has a storage problem with too much room taken up by pots, pans, equipment, and white goods. The Scroll Pan is a product which radically changes the way we perceive the regular frying pan. It folds and rolls and addresses the serious issue of storage. Great for cooking omelette’s, bacon, steak etc the Scroll Pan introduces more fun to frying. Folding your omelette, for example, has never been easier. Different shapes and sizes as well as cooking surfaces would be available in the range and each pan comes with a storage sleeve which can be hung up. The rolling base of the pan could be made in a number of ways. Diphenyl silicone (plasma treated and Teflon coated) would produce a heatproof and flexible surface. Safe to cook on, light, durable and easy to clean the Scroll Pan is a modern, stylish and fun addition to the kitchen.

While I’ll normally post about things in the concept phase, this post deals with both concept and reality.

Computers are sweet! I love ’em. However, other than socializing through the internet (i.e. e-mail, IM, etc) computers seem to remain relatively anti-local-social. By that, I mean it seems that when a person is using a computer he/she usually doesn’t interact with the people in the room. There are, of course, exceptions to this. But they’re just that: exceptions.

iPhone

iphone-shot1-400.jpg

The elusive Apple iPhone. This baby has probably had more concepts drawn up than any other product ever (I have no impirical data to support that, but it makes sense somewhere in my head). Rumor has it that we should be seeing the real deal sometime in 2007. I sure hope so. I’ve been waiting to update my iPod because I keep thinking the iPhone will come out soon: Just… A… Little… Bit… Longer…

Future Island

Here’s a little concept art of a dock on an island for space craft. This one’s a little more futuristic than most of the posts will be, but I liked the picture so much I thought it would be cool to show.

Here’s a concept BMW car from a company called 3DHiFi.

The bmw concept car was done in 2004 and should be a look into near future, where front windows are unnessasary and cold unemotional design is common.
